Professor, Department of Theoretical Physics and Ex. Provost, Salimullah Muslim Hall, Director, Centre for advanced research in sciences (CARS), University of Dhaka. Stood first in the first class in B.Sc Honours Examination (in Physics) and obtained the highest marks in both Honours and subsidiary subjects among all students of all Departments and affiliated colleges. Consequently, I was awarded the most prestigious Raja Kali Narayan Scholarship (KNS) of Dhaka University. I took my PhD degree from the University of East Anglia, UK. I have 30 years of teaching and research experiences, of them 15 years as a Professor. Have done post Doc. Research in Germany, Poland, Spain, and Italy. My area of research is the Condensed Matter Physics (theory) and have published so far 70 research articles, most of them are in international journals with non-zero impact factors. The most important result of my research work is the theoretical prediction of atomic structure of liquid titanium, which was later confirmed by experiment done in the Washington University, USA. I wrote 4 books: (I) Quantum Mechanics, (ii) Solid State Physics-I, (iii) Physics I & II for students of Class 11 & 12. I supervised 1 Ph D, 2 M Phil. and more than 60 MS thesis students so far and, currently supervising 4 PhD students. So far, I have been selected twice as nominator of the Nobel prize in Physics. From the administrative point of view, I served as Chairman of a Department and college Governing body, as a member of syndicate, academic council, planning committee, teacher selection committee, and as a joint secretary and Vice President of Bangladesh Physical Society. Have received 12 awards, so far, including Academy of Sciences gold medal, Ibrahim Memorial Gold Medal, Dean's award, UGC award, Commonwealth scholarship, Alexander von Humboldt fellowship and Erasmus Mundo fellowship. Currently acting as an Editor of an International Journal and as a honourary Professor of an International University.
